The 2006 introduction of the Wii motion-oriented game console has made virtual reality a possibility for anyone with a few hundred bucks. However, some, many of whom are adults, are finding that the virtual games are causing very real injuries.
Topsfield chiropractor Dr. Laura Godfrey, of Ray of Light Chiropractic, said she has recently been treating clients from age 5 to 75 that all had just a little too much fun with the Wii. Since the start of the holiday season she has seen more than 16 clients that have been afflicted with back, shoulder, wrist and elbow pain after long sessions with the game system.
